First SeeHamster in use in Cairo

On Monday, the first SeeHamster was ceremoniously christened in Cairo by the Egyptian Minister of the Interior, with musical accompaniment on board.

The waste collection ship is based on the latest design of the SeeHamster and was built in Cairo in just 4 weeks according to oeoo’s plans.

It will now be used five days a week in the collection activities of our cooperation partner verynile and is expected to collect an average of 100 kg of waste per day or 26 tonnes per year.

The SeeHamster from Cairo is currently still conventionally powered by a 30 hp outboard engine. It operates with a lowerable ramp at the bow.

Future collection ships are to be operated as fully electrically as possible to reduce the CO2 footprint on the environment.
