Sources of microplastic-pollution to the marine environment<\/p>\n

The overall objective of this study ordered by the Norwegian Environment
\nAgency is to provide a good overview of the different sources
\ncontributing to microplastic pollution both in Norway and globally. For
\nNorway, we also provide a first assessment of the type and amount of
\nmicroplastics each source contributes.
\nImportantly, we characterize the microplastic sources only at their
\nupstream origin, ideally just where the microplastic particles start
\ntheir ?life? as environmental pollutants, for example at ?the start of
\nthe pipe?, on land or at sea.<\/p>\n
