One Earth – One Ocean attends the Volvo Ocean Race Summit on January 22, 18 in Hong Kong. Volvo is organizing Ocean Summits in six of the 12 global racetrack venues to “spark discussions, create local relevance, and engage businesses, governments and individuals to reduce plastic pollution.” In this context, One Earth-One Ocean will also be able to present its concept of Marine Litter Cleanup.
The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the toughest sailing events in the world. In 2017-18, the teams will cover 45,000 nautical miles around the world, travel across four oceans, six continents and travel to 12 major host cities, one of which is Hong Kong.
Volvo Ocean Race has teamed up with the United Nations Environment Ministry and other partners to launch a comprehensive plastic waste sustainability program.
